My Take on Android vs. iPhone

It's been a while since I last posted anything of merit--and hey, it IS a new year--so I figure now is the time to do something about that. I recently made the bold (and nearly unheard of) switch to Android after having lived under the iOS/Apple ecosystem for the past four years. Despite having made the change a month ago, I still get asked almost daily when I'll be returning to the iPhone family. My answer? No time soon.

Summer Update

We're halfway through July here in the Palmetto State, and our reputation for being "famously hot" is proving to be well-founded. Temperatures last week were hitting 101 and 102 even without the heat index factored in!

History & Heirlooms

It's been a month and a half since my last post, and quite a bit has happened since then. My Granny passed earlier this month, and I've been really focused on researching my family's history since then. I've been busy scanning hundreds of old family photographs and documenting them all with my father. It's neat finding pictures I've never seen before while my father tells me stories about all the people in them.

Catching up.

It's been a while since I've posted, which is a pitfall I need to avoid if anyone's to check this regularly enough for me to have any readers.

The past few weekends I've been busy working on the Charlene (my 1972 Chevelle) and getting her ready to prime, and eventually paint. This means hours of chemically stripping, then mechanically sanding and grinding away all of the old paint, primer, Bondo, and fiberglass. I used to think that drywall mud was bad stuff to work with and made a mess, but it doesn't hold a candle to Bondo.

The 30-Day Song Challenge

A bunch of people are doing this on Facebook and actually posting one song a day onto their profile page. I don't really care to drag this out, but I do love music, so I'm just going to post all 30 in one day. Haters gon' hate.

Day 01 - Your favorite song
This is a hard choice, and to be honest I'd probably give you a different answer every time depending on when you asked me. Right now, I'll go with Lamb of God's "Vigil," as recorded live on their Killadelphia album.

Strange Happenings

Today I went downtown to grab lunch with a colleague. We decided that zpizza sounded good since neither one of us had been there in a while, and their pizza is admittedly very good. I mean, it's no Mellow Mushroom, but I digress.

Yes, the old site is gone. I mean, if you're one of the three people who looked at my old site, you'll have noticed the difference. Everyone else will think this is my first go at something like this.

I want to start a blog. Again. I like to think I'm a fairly eclectic person, having dabbled in vintage American muscle car restoration, various degrees of carpentry, antiques, Boy Scouts, and of course, technology of all shapes and sizes. And I'd like to share some of my experiences with the world. With any luck, this will be the place I do it.
